What Does an Account Executive Do?
We believe it’s important for clients to understand the work we do for them and be able to see our excellent work ethic. We believe it’s advantageous for clients to see how we like to operate and what a normal day looks like for our representatives.
We take the time to get to know Rob Green, Account Executive at Romero Insurance Brokers. He discussed how his past year has progressed and the benefits of being within an independent business.
Why is it important to visit clients on location?
“As an Account Executive, it is our role to understand the risks our customers are facing and then transfer these risks into insurance policies or risk management solutions.
In order to fully understand this, going to see our clients, speaking with them face to face, viewing their premises and watching how they operate as a business really enables us to find out exactly what our customers are looking for and allows us to do our job properly.”
What does a normal day look like in your role?
“A normal day as an Account Executive involves a lot of travelling and seeing customers, whether that’s just a mid-term review making sure the cover is all in, or it could be a pre-renewal review where we look to get projections and any changes for the forthcoming period.
It also involves meeting new prospects in the hope to bring them into the Romero family. We try to offer them a package which their current brokers can not provide them, including our excellent service.”
How has COVID-19 impacted the business and what is Romero doing to support?
“COVID-19 has impacted every business in some shape or form, but I think as a company Romero Insurance Brokers adapted very quickly without any interruption. This gave all our clients a lot of confidence when they needed it most.
All staff were given everything they required in order for them to continue their job and provide a high level of service. This includes work stations to even wellbeing seminars!
When the offices were safe to open, lots of measures were put in place for staff; temperature tests as we walk in, hand sanitisers stations around the offices, having access to lateral flow tests whenever required. All these measures were implemented to ensure staff safety and enable us to continue working as a team.
I know there are some brokers still to this day that are not going to see customers face to face and staff having to continue working from home with no office to work out of. Having that flexibility at Romero’s does show and I think our results prove that.”
How does being an independent business help you deliver the best results for the client?
“At the end of the day, it is our job to ensure that were delivering exactly what the customer wants and been able to access all insurance markets as an independent broker, we’re really getting the best result for our clients.
There are a lot of multi-national brokers out there who have strict rules on where business should be placed, which means clients might not be getting the best result available.”
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your role as an Account Exec?
“I think just been able to help clients and solve their problems is a really rewarding part of an Account Executive’s role.
Customers use insurance brokers to take advantage of our expertise and been able to transfer their risk and offer them solutions in the form of an insurance policy, that’s rewarding in my opinion and they also sleep a little better at night.”
Thank you for your time Rob.
